Global Design Project #255

Hello and welcome to my blog

Today I'm sharing my card for the Global Design Project #255 - this week is a theme challenge.
This card has been running around my head since I got my hands on the Forever Gold Specialty Designer Series Paper. The whole suite is amazing but I decided to keep it simple and just use the Forever Fern stamp set with one of the elements from the Forever Gold Specialty Paper.  I took my colour inspiration from the Forever Greenery designer series paper using Pretty Peacock, Pear Pizzazz, Just Jade and Soft Sea Foam inks.
The thick whisper white card base measures 14.8cm x 29.6cm scored @ 14.8cm. Using the second smallest stitched circle die, I made a few marks with a pencil in the middle of the card front so I knew where to stamp. I think the speckled stamp adds a bit of texture to the background. When I was happy with the way it looked I added the foil element with liquid glue which hides the hot mess in the centre.  I stamped the sweet sentiment from Forever Fern in Pretty Peacock on a stitched shape circle and layered that on to a Pretty Peacock scalloped circle using mini dimensionals - I love the pop of colour! This was added to the centre of the gorgeous gold element with mini dimensionals.

I decided to make a video to show how quick and easy this card is to make. This time I used all blue inks; Night of Navy, Misty Moonlight, Coastal Cabana and Balmy Blue. As you can see I made this one a birthday card using one of the sentiments from Fancy Phrases.

Do you have a favourite? I think mine is the blue one but I'd love to know what you think.

Global Design Project: GDP254 Sketch Challenge

Hello and welcome to my blog,

Today's card was inspired by this week's sketch challenge over at the Global Design Project.

I kept my card clean and simple (something I often find difficult 😊 as I have a craft room crammed full of wonderful craft supplies) - I'm so happy with the way it turned out.

Thick Whisper White card cut @ 15.8cm x 21cm, scored @ 10.5cm for a top folding card base
Crumb Cake card cut @ 8cm x 12cm
Playing with Pattern Designer Series Paper cut @ 7.5cm x 11.5cm
Whisper White card cut @ 2.5cm x 7cm for the sentiment panel and a piece for the butterflies
Butterfly Gala and Lovely You stamp sets
Butterfly Duet punch
Night of Navy and Crumb Cake ink pads
Night of Navy and Calypso Coral Stampin' Write Marker pens
Wink of Stella glitter brush
Gilded Gems
Multipurpose glue

I stamped the butterflies with one of the stamps from Butterfly Gala on the piece of whisper white with Night of Navy ink and used aWink of Stella glitter brush to spread the ink - I love how this creates a two tone glittery effect. The Butterfly Duet punch does what it says on the tine and punches out two butterflies at a time, one of each size. I had to draw the bodies by hand as the stamp is AWOL! The sentiment from Lovely You is stamped in Crumb Cake on a strip of white and then it was time to assemble.

The gorgeous piece of designer series paper is adhered on to the Crumb Cake layer and the sentiment strip glued towards the bottom right of that panel. It's easy to give the butterfly wings a little bit of shape with a bone folder before gluing the body around the sentiment. That panel was then glued to the base and a few Gilded Gems add the finishing touch.

If you want you can see just how quick and easy this card was to make below click here or below.
As always, thanks for stopping by and remember keep it crafty.

GDP #253 Color Challenge

Hello and welcome to my blog

The card I'm sharing today is my entry for this week's Global Design Project which is a color challenge - Granny Apple Green, Bumble Bee and Calypso Coral - two colors from the Brights collection plus one of the new In-Colors! The Design Team have created some gorgeous projects to inspire us.

I decided to make an elegant thank you card and my intention was to keep it simple ..... but I actually ended up using a lot of different sets!

The card base is Thick Whisper white cut @ 10.5cm x 29.6cm scored at 14.8cm to create a top folding card. The next layer is cut @ 10.2cm x 14.5cm and embossed with the Scripty 3D embossing folder. I do love white on white and embossing, for me, always adds a lot to any project.

I stamped three of the images from the Forever Fern stamp set on a quarter sheet of A4 whisper white card using Granny Apple Green and Calypso Coral inks and die cut using the co-ordinating Forever Flourishing dies.  From the same piece of card I die cut one of the gorgeous frames from the Ornate Layers dies and stamped two of the smaller sentiments from the Ornate Thanks stamp set on that in Calypso Coral before trimming in half with my mini cutter. On a small piece of Bumble Bee card cut @ 3cm x 15cm I stamped the large sentiment from the Ornate Thanks stamp set in Calypso Coral and die cut using another frame from the Ornate Frames dies.  Basic rhinestones add a bit of bling to finish off the card

I've made a quick video so you can see how easily and quickly this card came together.

I also made a second card using one of the Greenery embossing folders and added it to a Bumble Bee base - which one do you prefer?
